I am so thrilled to finally share with you pictures of my craft room overhaul!  It was a LONG project.  I truly wanted to do it right and really sort through everything I have.  I got rid of boxes and boxes of old supplies that I’ve had for years that I just had to admit that I’d never use.  I honestly laughed so many different times as I said to myself “What in the world were you thinking when you bought this?”  My sister and I exchanged a lot of texts and phone calls during this process.  We both admitted that we have hoarding issues!

So now that I have confessed my issues to you let me share with you a bit of why I decided it was finally time for a good clean out.  This is my first year doing Project Life.  You can see all of my project life posts for the year so far, HERE.  Since starting to document our daily life this way I have really fallen back in love with photographing and journaling.  I definitely feel that I had lost my passion for recording our family history because of the tremendous amount of guilt I had because I was behind.  I also think I was documenting just the big events in our lives such as birthdays, major holidays, and bigger life events.  Project Life has made me realize that the everyday is not ordinary, it is EXTRAORDINARY!  I love documenting the simple everyday things like the movies we see, where we eat, what snacks the kids are enjoying right now, and what we read.  The four of us have also looked at our project life albums more than any other album I’ve ever made. LOVE that!

Because I realize that Project Life is the only way I want to document our lives from here on out, I realized it was time to let go of the stuff I just won’t use in my albums.  So began “project overhaul”.  If you remember, one of the items on my September Sort-It list was:  create a functional project life station.  My craft area was complete chaos.  I was sure that if anyone fell in there that we might not ever find them.  Below is a picture of what my room looked like at the beginning.  Don’t be jealous!

I know right!  Total chaos.  Well, after hours and hours of sorting, purging, and organizing here are a few pictures of what my overall room looks like now.

I get a lot of questions on how I organize ribbon, embellishments, project life core kits, journal cards, stickers, etc.  So today I’m going to show you a bunch of different pictures of my various stations.  This is going to be picture heavy so I’m going to keep my explanations to a minimum, but don’t hesitate to ask any questions in the comment section.

I organize all of my ribbon and embellishments by color.  I’ve been doing this for years and love this way of organizing.  My ribbon jars sit on the shelves that are pictured above.

During the reorganization of my supplies I moved all my colored embellishments from small rubber containers to the drawers you see on the counter below.

There is a drawer for each color.  Some colors have 2 drawers.

I have a shelf for all of my ink pads, paints, and misters.  Right above that I keep a jar full of buttons.  I don’t separate those by color.  There is just something about a big jar of colorful buttons that makes me smile!

I also bought drawers from IKEA years ago to use for my alphabets and numbers. They were a doozy to put together but I love the functionality of them.  There is a drawer for each letter and number.  It was a lot of work at first but I love having them organized this way.

The letter drawers sit on top of several cubed drawer systems.  Several of these drawers house my project life page protectors.  I have one drawer for the 12×12 designs.

All the other sizes are in the drawer below.

On top of the shelves behind my desk are various stations.  I love that I can turn around and have everything at my fingertips.  The first station has baskets with all my letters (stickers, rub-ons, etc.) as well as word stickers.

The next shelf holds several different vintage trays that I’ve picked up from various places.

The gray box holds all of my flair buttons.  As you can see, I am a HUGE fan of the buttons Leena over at Finding Nana makes.  You can see her shop HERE.

The little letterpress tray holds various project life goodies.  (I’m going to move the numbers over to the drawers where they belong!)

The smaller green box in the back holds various tags, labels, and journal cards.

The next station holds the old, wooden silverware box that you may have seen from this post.  It houses the supplies from the PL core kits that are 4×6 in size.  I also designated several areas to smaller stamps.

This shelf also holds a couple of shell dishes I picked up at an antique shop as well as my box of washii tape.

I bought my desk from Pier 1 Imports about 8 years ago.  I love the heigth and the little cubbies on the side which houses my sets of acryllic stamps.

This isn’t the best shot of my desk top but it will have to do.

I keep my album, paper trimmer, industrial corner rounder, a basket containing necessary supplies (tiny attacher, scissors, adhesive), and an old library card catalog box that has all my PL journaling cards.  Below is a close-up of that card box.

So there you have it!  Like I said, very picture heavy, but I hope it has given you some good ideas.  If you have any questions, please either leave them in the comments or shoot me a message.  My e-mail is in the upper right hand corner of my blog.

I’ve loved being back in my creative space now that it is clean and organized.  I try to spend a little bit of time each day in here.  Whether it be printing pictures or putting my thoughts down on journaling cards.  The picture below sits on my shelf in the craft room.  It makes me smile.

Here’s to a productive week!

Make it great!

Hi there everybody!  Today I’m sharing week 28 of our project life album with you.  I am still behind, but I’m hoping to get several more weeks put together this coming week.  If you are here from The Mom Creative link-up, welcome!

This week I kept things pretty simple.  I think this week might be the 1st week that I used mostly 4×6 photos.  I threw in 1 polaroid that I had taken. Seriously, this layout was a breeze to put together.  I added a few embellisments to a few photos and journal cards and called it a day! Below is a shot of my entire layout.

The “BEAMO” letter stickers, red letters, flower and “all day in the sun” embellishments all came from my stash.  I’m really working hard at using what I have.  Both the “summertime” and “heart today” journal boxes are from Ali Edwards.  I continue to love her digital overlays.

Here is a close-up of the title/date picture.

I used these digital letters and these digital numbers to put WK 28 directly onto the picture of my nephew Ben.  They came from Catherine at Design Editor.  LOVE HER STUFF!  I then used my date stamp and Staz-On to stamp the date directly on the picture.  I really wanted to change things up with my title card this week and using the digital letters & numbers helped me do that.

Here is a look at the right side.

I used on of these journal cards that I’ve used before from Mara Writes.  I love how they add just a touch of what I’m experiencing at the moment.   I think these will be neat to look back on in years to come.

The “makes me happy” sticker that is on the photo of my daughter’s flip-flops is a Smash product.  I found that set at my local Wal-Mart.  I can already tell it is going to be used again and again.  There is just something about seeing my kids’ shoes sitting in the grass that just screams “Summer!” to me!

Thanks for stopping by!  As always, I welcome any questions or comments you might have.  Make sure you head over and see all the other project life layouts at The Mom Creative.

See you back next week!

Hello all my Project Life friends!  It’s good to be back sharing my layouts of our weekly life with you.  I am still doing project life, but I am a few weeks behind.  I’ve had these layouts done for awhile but have not had many moments to sit down and blog.  I was finally able to photograph several weeks worth of layouts and wanted to share those with you today.  Just to forewarn you, it is picture heavy so I will try to keep it light on the words!

Week 23

I added several of Ali’s digital overlays to my instagram pictures and I loved using several of the flair buttons from Finding Nana.

Week 24

As you can see, week 24 has a black and white theme going on.  Honestly, this is my least favorite layout in my project life album so far.  I’m not going to re-do it, I’m just going to move on and remember that I really like my layouts with more color.

Week 25

On Thursday of week 25 we were notified that Skylar’s Adaptive Bike was finished (you can read about it here).  Just a few moments later we got word of the loss of one of our dearest friends.  I shared my personal journaling of finding out about his death in our layout.  I placed it under a flip-up protector to keep it private.

Week 26

I used a lot of Ali’s digital overlays this week.  I love adding them to enlarged photos and she has so many really great sayings that are perfect for this week’s pictures.

The picture of Skylar in her mask cracked me up and the saying “This is so you” was perfect for that shot!

The cloud and bicycle journaling cards came from here.  The “enjoy the ride” card came from this awesome set.  And the “ride with me” flair button was again from Finding Nana.  I LOVE her flair buttons, just in case you couldn’t tell!

I will also be including a separate insert including pictures, details, & thoughts about the funeral of our friend.  Honestly, I have just not felt up to putting that together yet.

Week 27

The “love you” card came from this set that I linked to earlier in the post.

If you are still with me, you deserve a gold star!!  Thanks for checking out my layouts.

If you are here from The Mom Creative then welcome!  If you aren’t, you should head over HERE and check out all the awesome layouts by other Project Lifers.

You can see my previous project life posts here.

It’s great to be back!

Make it a great day!

Project Life: Week 22

I had great intentions of sharing multiple weeks of project life this week, but that is just not going to happen.  I finished week 22 and had printed out all the pictures for week 23 when I received word that our dear friend, Buddy, had been struck and killed by a hit and run driver while jogging.  We are beyond saddened by this tragic loss.  I wrote a post yesterday about coming together to help his precious family! Please take a moment and read it HERE!

I truly am at a loss for words this week so I’m just going to share the pictures and let them speak for themselves!  As always, if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below!

I’m linking up with The Mom Creative today for Project Life Tuesday!

You can see my previous project life posts here.

I pray that you have a safe week!

Make it great & make it count!

Glad to be back today sharing my project life pages with you!  This week I’m sharing week 21 which was the girls’ last week of school as well as the week I went to Tucson to see my 2 cousins graduate from high school.  I took so many pictures from my trip and I wanted to include most of them so I ended up having not only my usual spread, but an 8.5×11 insert with 2 enlargements as well as a Design G page protector that spotlighted the individual graduation ceremonies I attended.

Here is a shot of the left page and my 1st photo enlargement.  I used a digital overlay from Ali Edwards.  It says: embrace the “you’ness” of you!  I took the picture of me in the glasses after I put them on and realized both lenses had fallen out.  In the picture I’m doing my best Austin Powers impersonation!

On the backside is another enlargement of 3 of my cousins and my niece together at the graduation.  I loved this picture of these 4 beautiful girls and wanted to remember it!  I added the words “hello memory” that came from this set also by Ali.

The right side is a Design G protector that covers my cousin, Lexi’s graduation.  I also included a flip-up protector on the bottom of the page protector.  The beige blob is there because I added her full name to my page and I didn’t want to post that on the internet.  I did the same thing on the backside of the page as well.

The back side of the Design G insert covers my cousin, Taylor’s graduation.  My pictures are pretty dark so they didn’t photograph well.  The lighting was not great in the church.  It was an absolutely beautiful graduation ceremony!!

The right side includes the rest of my pictures from my visit.

I used a couple of my new flair buttons from Finding Nana’s etsy shop!  Love her shop & absolutely LOVE her project life pages!

I used another flip-up protector at the bottom of this page.  LOVE these silly pictures of my dad and my niece.  They ate eegee’s (slushies) and big blizzards about an hour apart.  They were STUFFED afterwards.

Well, that is it!  If you are still reading…kudos to you!!  This week had a lot more pages and inserts than I normally use, but I’m so glad that I included everything.

I’m linking up with The Mom Creative!  Head over and check out all the other wonderful project life posts.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Well hello there!  I’ve been a bit absent from my blog for the past 2 weeks.  Lots of life happening. I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Tucson last week to see my cousins graduate from high school so I did not post Project Life last Tuesday. Today I will be sharing Week 20 with you and originally I had planned to share week 21 as well, but I have a lot of pictures and didn’t want to feel rushed in getting that layout together.  I am thoroughly enjoying documenting our story this way.  Twenty weeks in and I still LOVE it!

Below is a shot of the layout, not including the insert I included of Skylar’s field trip to the Musical Instrument Museum.

I continue to love using Martha Stewart labels to add journaling to my pictures.  This week also had a great mix of instagram, iPhone, instax polaroid, and pictures with my dslr camera.

I included an enlarged picture that spreads over the page this week.  I’ve done this several times before and I just love the way it looks!

Here’s a close-up of the enlarged photo.  I just love how Skylar is talking to the horse in this shot!  I participated in a photo link-up on my sister’s blog last week. The photo of the girls with the horse was from a prompt in that photo challenge. We pass this horse every day on the way out of our neighborhood. After living in Prescott for a year, we finally stopped to pet the horse and take a picture.  You can read that post HERE!

I also included a baseball card page protector with the pictures from our field trip to the Musical Instrument Museum.  It was really neat!

Here’s a shot of the entire layout including the insert.

Thanks for stopping by to see my pages.  I am linking up with The Mom Creative today!  Make sure you head over there and see all the wonderful project life inspiration.

Hi there!  I hope you all have had a great week so far.  I’m so glad to be back this week with my project life layout for Week 19 and also my layout for Week 18.  It felt great to be back in my creative space.  If you are here from The Mom Creative, welcome!  If not, hop on over to her site and check out all the project life goodness!

So let’s just jump right into it, shall we?  Below is a shot of the entire Week 19 spread.

I was definitely feeling more color this week!  I used the cardstock from the Clementine paper pack that was 50% off last week.  I LOVE this paper!  I included my usual picture and ticket stub from this week’s movie.  This week I enjoyed going to the movie with my friends Dawn and Kristine.  I got the “Tuesday” card from this shop.  I love their shop!  I bought the days of the week journal cards and badges.  My stuff came packaged so cute and just made me smile when I opened my mail!

I stamped “Note To Self” and “Week in Review” and then cut them out and added them to my paper.  I got the stamps from Nicole’s etsy shop.  I used a very old transparency that I had from My Minds Eye for the pictures of my dogs.  Loved adding something a little different.

I also printed off the cover of the book I read this week.  In It To Win It was written by my new friend Morgan Kearns.  When she told me that she wrote Romance Novels, I wasn’t sure what to think.  I bought the first book, Fade to Black, and was so surprised by what a great writer she is!  I read In It To Win It this week and have bought the third book, Out of Left Field, on my Kindle to read this week.  If you like romance novels I promise that you will love these!  They are not smut novels!  Her characters have lots of depth and she had wonderful plot development!  She did not ask me to plug her book, but I always want to support independent business women.  She lives here in our small, little town and is as real as they come!  LOVE HER!

Here are the pictures of my layout from Week 18.  Not as much color, but I still love them!

I used lots of paper clips and the Martha Stewart labels for my journaling.  Can’t get enough of those office supplies!

I loved this simple picture below of Skylar looking through my project life album.  I love that she spent a long time flipping through the album and then she said “Mom! I love your picture book!”  This is why I do project life!

Well there you have it!  Two more weeks done & documented!  Don’t forget to check out The Mom Creative and all the wonderful project life layouts that are linked up there.

You can see my previous project life posts here.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Well hello there!  This past week was crazy, but oh so good!  I’m spring cleaning this week and I am up to my eyeballs in dust & clutter. I did not do my actual project life pages this week as I want to finish spring cleaning my upstairs before I host my bunco group on Thursday evening.  I also ran out of a couple of colors of ink that I need to pick up this weekend.  I do however, want to share some pictures with you!

My ultimate goal in spring cleaning is to reduce the clutter, really get the house good & clean, and ultimately do this:

It feels so good to get rid of stuff that I don’t need!  Take a look at what my master bathroom looked liked after we took everything out of my closet.

I love that I stopped to snap a picture of my mess!  Project Life has really encouraged me to take pictures of real life!  I bought some new, non-toxic cleaning supplies last week.  I am trying to be more “green” and regular cleaning supplies are just not good for you!

Here are a couple shots of my craft room currently.  It is such a mess!  When I am completely done with the overhaul, I will post pictures of my organization.

Despite the total mess in my craft area, I was able to have some creative time last week.  It was teacher appreciation week at Hailey’s school and I made a cute, little school supply box for her teacher.  I got this idea years ago from the Eighteen25 blog.  LOVE their blog!!

I also bought these stamps from the very lovely Nicole!  You can see them in her shop here.  I can’t wait to use them on my pages this week!

I was thrilled to chaperone Hailey’s field trip down to Phoenix on Wednesday.  The entire 5th grade was responsible for running “Biztown”.  It was a functioning city.  We had business loans and paychecks.  Hailey was the CFO of the Wellness Center and she was responsible for paying all the bills, payroll, & making deposits at the bank.  She did AWESOME!

Skylar was home for a couple of days with a rash that ended up not being contagious.  After a couple days of Benadryl-induced drowsiness, TLC by mom, and saying “I hate itchy bumps!” a thousand times, we were good to go!

One of the days she was home she spent looking at my Project Life album.  She giggled, read aloud, and remarked several times “I love this picture book!”

And last, but not least, I enjoyed a morning wrestling with this furry one!  He totally cracks me up!  We have always remarked how Jack must be a human trapped in a dog’s body.  He has the most personality.  I’m pretty sure he is laughing at me here!

I hope all of you had a great week!  If you are here from The Mom Creative, welcome!!  If not, head on over to The Mom Creative and check out all of the Project Life goodness that can be found there.

Here we are at week 17!  I’m delayed in posting this morning as I actually had the plan to combine weeks 17 & 18 into one layout next week because I only took a handful of pictures with my i-Phone.  However, this morning I got to thinking about how I should still make an individual layout and challenge myself to work tidbits of my life (past & present) into this week’s pages.  I’m really glad I did that, as it was fun to list some of things I’d like to learn & some of my favorite memories from my childhood.  I love the Smash products for such lists!  I got all of my Smash products at Michael’s.  Below is a picture of the entire layout.

Here’s a close-up of the left page which includes several of the pages from the Smash pads.

And a close-up of the right side.  It includes another Smash pad page (Our Favorite Snacks) along with my movie picture and a few thoughts about this beautifully emotional movie, as well as a postcard that my sweet friend Becky sent me & my thoughts on how thankful I am for her friendship!  The Facebook journal card was a freebie from Wildblueberry Ink.

I also included the card that Becky sent me in the layout this week. I simply hole punched it and attached it to the ring.

So glad that I decided to do my layout this morning despite not having many pictures.  It was truly a blessing to sit and think about fond memories and all that I have to be thankful for, which is A LOT!

I’m linking up with The Mom Creative today!  Go check out all the wonderful Project Life goodness!

I can’t believe it is already Tuesday again!  This year is just flying by…15 weeks already done!  We had a great week and again, I’m thrilled to have it documented. Last week was Hailey’s birthday, Skylar’s talent show (click here to see her performance), a trip to Phoenix for a physical therapy evaluation, and a quick trip to Tucson to celebrate my grandfather’s 80th birthday.  It was a busy, but good week! Below is a shot of the layout, without the inserts.  The left-side is the back of Design F and the right-side is Design E.

I love the mix of elements on the left page.  I included a tag from a new shirt Hailey got last week as well as the Happy Birthday Hailey label that Ms. Monica at the chiropractor’s office put on Hailey when we went in last week.  She wore that label on her forehead for the rest of the day.  I LOVE that when she pulled it off she said “Mom, can you put this in project life next week?”  That’s why I love this way of documenting!

The entire right-side of the layout is devoted to my Pa’s 80th birthday party!  There were 22 of us there, besides Pa.  We celebrated with his favorites, pizza & beer.  I labeled each picture with a number & then shared a little about each photo (in the lower right corner).

I also included 2 inserts.  The one on the left is my blog post from last Wednesday. It is a birthday interview that I did with her.  You can read the prompts & her responses here.  The insert on the right includes a couple of birthday cards the students in Hailey’s class made her along with the “kid of character” ribbon she received on Friday.  On the back of that insert is the program from Skylar’s talent show.

Well, there you have it!  Thanks for stopping by!  As always, I welcome any comments and/or questions.

As always, I’m linking up with The Mom Creative and One Happy Mama.  Head over to their pages & see all the great pages that are linked up on their sites.
